On My Way Home Rescue's adoption process
We accept animals from high-kill animal shelters, owner surrenders, neglect situations, and puppy mills. In addition, we help pet owners and other non-profit organizations in need of financial support get necessary and affordable services for their pets. Our dogs are fostered in loving foster homes until they are adopted into their forever homes. They are all spayed/neutered (unless there is a medical condition preventing a safe spay/neuter), microchipped, and vaccinated.
Some dogs also receive a dental cleaning when medically recommended. Our goal is to find the best and most appropriate home for each individual dog. When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. We are a rescue focusing on dachshunds, dachshund mixes, and other small dogs that are in the shelters or surrendered by their owners.

My Way Home Dog Rescue was created by a group of people committed to improving the quality of dogs’ lives. We focus on a few dogs at a time and that helps us match dogs to homes that have the best chance of lasting a lifetime.
Eventually, I realized that the right home had been in front of me the entire time. Mercury had adopted me from the time that we locked eyes on the afternoon that we met. Animal lovers throughout the world started following Mercury and rooting for his recovery. His sweet spirit and loving nature captured everyone's hearts.
Meet Mercury, a boy who inspired the entire Las Vegas valley...and even affected the hearts of people throughout the world! Severely neglected and starved to an extent that he was on the brink of death, in March of 2019, our local animal shelter reached out to us for help due to his emaciated state. His thin frame received a body scale score of only 1 out of 9, which is the lowest score that a dog can have before death. It is unimaginable that someone would starve a puppy and allow him to suffer slowly.
She told me as soon as my situation changed, (I was homeless for 3 days and didn't want to put my dogs through being homeless), that I could come pick my dogs back up. Our goal is to make a difference by rescuing dogs from over-crowded shelters, fostering them in our homes, and finding them great forever homes. Every life that we've saved is infinitely important and we've highlighted a few of our rescue animals who passed away but will never be forgotten.
